Anybody wanna buy a duck? This famous line from comedian Joe Penner means as much to us here at the farm as it can to anyone. At this time we breed cayugas, and golden cascades. Both are good layers, but for sheer quantity, our favorite egg-layers would be the cascades. The cayugas are real pros at hiding their eggs, sometimes in plain sight. To make matters more challenging, cayuga eggs vary in color from practically black (especially in spring) to lighter gray to nearly white. With the black clay we have in this part of the world, I lost count of the number of pre-scrambled eggs I discovered under my shoes.
